DIY metallic leather coasters

DIY metallic leather coasters

i really did an easy one this time guys. i know i always say that. but if it’s still cute, it doesn’t count as phoning it in ok? i found these leather circles at the craft store and desperately wanted leather coasters, so i just came up with a pretty method for painting them and calling it a day.

materials

  • leather rounder shapes
  • (fyi these come in a 3 pack)
  • silver leather paint
  • paintbrush
  • spray finish (optional)

so really, all you do is loosely brush a little paint on with smooth strokes. don’t put a lot of paint on the brush, the pretty brush strokes are when the brush had barely any paint on it. you can keep lightly layering, and try painting from different directions to create a cooler pattern. that’s it!

go outside and lightly spray with a finishing spray (from far away!) to avoid damage, but if you like the look of worn leather you can also skip this step.

i love the way silver looks on natural leather, and i feel like these coasters have kind of a moon phase pattern or something — they’re cute right? and they’re so easy you can make a set for every person in your life in an hour, unless… you’re super popular. then it might take two hours.
